 Q. What are most recent changes to the ASWB exams?

January 2, 2024: ASWB formed a strategic partnership with PSI, a leading testing provider, to administer its social work licensing examination program beginning in early 2024. PSI will begin administering the social work licensing examinations at its 475 test centers across the United States and Canada on Jan. 2, 2024, with a remote testing option being made available through secure online proctoring later in the year.

January 1, 2023: Testing experience enhancements.

Ø  Three Option Answers: over the next few years the format of the response categories will change from four choices to three. Prior to Jan. 1, 2023, all questions had 4 choices (A, B, C, and D) for answers. They have started to gradually add three choice options (A, B, and C). In this last option, each potential answer has a 33.3% chance of being correct, as opposed to the four-choice option which has a 25% chance. It is hoped this change in format will help by limiting the distractors, thereby increase the percentage of getting it correct.

Ø  Waive 3-month Wait to Reschedule: If you fail the exam by 10 points or less you can petition to take the exam again and waive the required three-month waiting period for a retest. I have been told by several recent test-takers that they were able to request this and when they submitted the request it was approved. In the past this was very difficult to get.
